Impressing peace and expression of creative communication

As part of a series of youth empowerment initiatives, SAHER has embarked on a short film making workshop for young people within the Jogeshwari East community in Mumbai. The workshop which kicks off in December will among other things focus on creative communication as a tool for positive social change. Twenty young people are expected to be trained in an intensive seven days residential workshop.

Upon announcing the workshop earlier this month, dozens of youngsters have already begun streaking in at SAHER’s headquarters to submit their applications. This is indeed a proof of our young people’s budding desire to expand their horizons in order to cope with the increasing pace of globalization. However, application for the workshop closes on November the 20th.

This workshop which is being funded by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNOAC) will be conducted in conjunction with SAHER Annual Peace Week celebrations in December of this year. To climax the Annual Peace Week commemoration, the best 3 movies produced during the film workshop will be screened before a massive amount of peace loving participants and observers within the Jogeshwari (E) community.

SAHER works for peace across communities by enabling young people to become change agents through leadership and employability programmes. In turn, these young people bring about ethical social change in society, affecting a shift from conflict – to economic productiveness and leadership for social action.
